Ramadan Working Hours: During the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Interior has released the official working hours for its departments. Offices of the General Directorate of Passports will operate from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Health Insurance For Family Visit Visa:
Health insurance is now a mandatory requirement for obtaining a Family Visit Visa. Upon approval of your visa application, you will receive an SMS containing a link to purchase health insurance online.

Marriage Certificate Attestation Requirement

Initial Validity:
The Qatar Family Visit Visa is initially issued for One month ( 30 Days )
Extension for Spouses and Children:
After the visitor enters Qatar and undergoes a medical test the visa can be extended for an additional five months for spouses and children. This totals to 180 days from the initial entry.
Extension for Other Relatives:
For other relatives the visa can be extended for two months beyond the initial entry. This totals to 90 days from the initial entry.
- Health insurance is required for the additional period beyond the initial visa validity.
- There is no guarantee for extension beyond the initial 90 days stay and rules may change.
- Before purchasing additional insurance for extending the visa for five more months, it is advisable to confirm with the Immigration Department to ensure eligibility.
Number Of Days To Enter In Qatar After Visa Approval:
- Once Qatar Family Visit Visa is approved it will have a "visa valid till" date printed on it.
- This date represents the last day by which the visitor must enter Qatar. It is not the last date of stay in Qatar.
- Currently visitors have 90 days from the date of visa approval to enter Qatar. The visa cannot be used after this date.

- You may need to provide a birth certificate to prove your relationship with the visitor. If unavailable, any other relevant document can be used.
We will inform you within a few days if any documents are missing or do not match. Once your application is verified and approved, you will receive an application number.
The status will change from Under Process to Under Review and back to Under Process before final approval.

After your visa is approved you will need to pay the visa fee (QR 200) online through Metrash.
Simply navigate to the 'Visa Operation' page and click on the 'Visa Fees Payment' icon to complete your payment.
Get Health Insurance
Starting From April 2023 you will need health insurance after your visit visa is approved (not during application).
Once your visa is approved you will get a message to purchase insurance. When buying enter your visa number for updating in the Metrash system.
Printing the visa is only possible after buying insurance. Then download the visa copy to send to your visitor for travel.

There are various reasons why your family visit visa application might be declined. Mostly it is because of incorrect or insufficient documents.
If your document photo are not clear or are not attested (like a marriage certificate) you can get it attested and resubmit. But it is important to understand the reason and fix it before reapplying.

If your return ticket is after 30 days some airlines might not let you get on the plane because the first visa is only for 30 days.
It is important to book a flight ticket that you can change with a small fee. That way after you arrive in Qatar you can adjust the dates of your ticket.
When the online visa start some airlines might need an 'OK to Board' status before you leave. You can get this status by showing your visa copy to the airline's office in Doha.
